NFL Legend Larry Allen Dies Suddenly at Age 52 in Mexico

Former American football player Larry Allen died suddenly at the age of 52 while on a family vacation in Mexico. A Dallas Cowboys legend, he had spent 13 seasons at the highest level before being inducted in the Hall of Fame, the “pantheon” of the discipline. “He was the model to follow for many other players, defining what it meant to be a great teammate,” praised his ex-franchise.

An American football legend is no more. Former NFL champion Larry Allen, 52, died suddenly while vacationing in Mexico, his former franchise, the Dallas Cowboys, announced Monday in the United States. “Larry died suddenly while traveling in Mexico with his family on Sunday,” specifies the press release from the Texan club. “Known for his great fitness and incredible strength, he was one of the most respected and accomplished offensive linemen to ever play in the NFL.”

“A model”

A player with an imposing physique (1.91 m and 147 kg), Larry Allen was one of the architects of the Cowboys’ last victory in the Super Bowl, in 1996. In total, he played twelve seasons with Dallas (1994-2005 ) before his transfer to the San Francisco 49ers (2006-2007), a franchise where he retired from sports.

The player was even inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame upon his first nomination in 2013. He also regularly appeared on the teams of the decade in the 1990s and 2000s.
