Nicolò Melli Signs Two-Year Contract with Fenerbahce Istanbul

The news had been in the air for several days and now it is finally official: Nicolò Melli returns to Türkiye and will wear the Fenerbahce Istanbul jersey starting next season. The captain of the Italian national team has signed a two-year contract with the Turkish club, for which he had already played from 2017 to 2019, reaching the Euroleague Final Four twice.

Melli therefore becomes the second player to make the move from Olimpia Milano to Fenerbahce in this transfer session after Devon Hall, recently announced by the team on the Asian side of Istanbul. An intriguing new challenge promises to be ahead for the 33-year-old native of Reggio Emilia after his divorce with coach Ettore Messina’s team.

Before projecting himself into the start of his second cycle in Turkey, the former Dallas Mavericks player will try to live as long a summer as possible as a protagonist with the national team. In fact, Italy is expected to make its debut in the San Juan Pre-Olympic in a week (Lithuania and Puerto Rico are the most fearsome opponents), with only one five-ring pass to the Paris 2024 Games up for grabs.
