“Not available” to audition, Fröjdfeldt leaves the field open to Delerue

His candidacy was surprising and it already seems obsolete. According to our information, the former Swedish international referee Peter Fröjdfeldt, candidate with the FFF for the position of “instructor-manager” of elite referees, declined, this Wednesday morning, the hearing planned by videoconference in the ‘afternoon.

In an email, he indicated that he was not available for this interview, remotely, with the selection committee composed of Antony Gautier, the director of arbitration, Eric Borghini, the president of the federal commission of referees, Jean- Pierre Caillot (president of Reims and the Ligue 1 college), Marc Keller (Strasbourg) and Pascal Parent (president of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes League). Peter Fröjdfeldt, who currently heads refereeing within the Greek federation, had sent the FFF a curriculum vitae and a short cover letter in English.

Suffice to say that this defection leaves the field open to Amaury Delerue, referee in Ligue 1 between 2012 and 2022, who turned to a career as a mental trainer for four years, now alone in the running. His hearing takes place this Wednesday afternoon. The selection committee should decide, at the end of the day, on Delerue’s candidacy, before Philippe Diallo, the president of the FFF, makes the final decision.
