Novak Djokovic will definitely compete in Wimbledon.

Novak Djokovic injured his knee in Paris and announced after his quarter-final loss to Casper Ruud that his participation in Wimbledon was doubtful. There were increasing voices saying that the grass classic at Church Road would take place this year without the seven-time champion. Only now did the Serb subject his body to a final stress test and then gave the all-clear.

A test match against Daniil Medvedev certainly sounds like a worthy dress rehearsal for the mind and, above all, the body. After his two-set victory, Novak Djokovic said: “Pain-free tennis is the best tennis. I was pain-free and I’m really happy about that.” A start next week is therefore certain.

Novak Djokovic with good draw

Novak Djokovic, who has already completed a few practice sets, will face qualifier Vit Kopriva from the Czech Republic in the first round. Many observers see Hubert Hurkacz, a possible quarter-final opponent for the Serb, as his earliest stumbling block.

Last year, Novak Djokovic beat the Polish number one in the round of 16 after four sets and, after further victories against Andrey Rublev and Jannik Sinner, lost in the final to Carlos Alcaraz after five sets, who celebrated his first Wimbledon title. This year, the narrow defeat will be forgotten and the eighth title on the London lawn will be his. The 37-year-old would then draw level with Roger Federer, who has also won the tournament eight times.
