Novak Djokovic Decides to Participate in Wimbledon Despite Knee Injury Concerns

The tennis world is worried about superstar Novak Djokovic. The Grand Slam record winner recently had to undergo knee surgery, and now his participation in the grass court classic in Wimbledon is in doubt. The Serb has now made a first decision.

Despite recently having undergone surgery on his meniscus, Novak Djokovic is aiming to take part in Wimbledon. As the BBC reports, the 37-year-old has decided to definitely travel to the third Grand Slam of the calendar year.

However, it remains unclear whether the seven-time Wimbledon winner will actually be on the court at the end.

The tennis star recently increased his chances of taking part in England by deciding to undergo surgery immediately after the injury he sustained at the French Open. In the round of 16, he slipped during his hard-fought five-set victory against Francisco Cerúndolo, twisting his right knee. He then had to withdraw from the French Open due to injury.

Tennis star Djokovic is back on the court

The tournament at the venerable All England Club begins on July 1st. Another important factor in his decision as to whether he will play in Wimbledon will be whether this would endanger the Olympic tennis tournament in Paris. From July 27th, the tennis stars will be fighting for gold, silver and bronze in France.

Videos that Novak Djokovic posted on Instagram after his operation give hope for a quick recovery. In mid-June he showed impressions from his strength training, and on Friday he even returned to the court. “Tennis, I missed you,” wrote the 24-time Grand Slam winner.

On Saturday, another video circulated on the short message service X (formerly Twitter), showing Novak Djokovic training on the tennis court.
