Novak Djokovic will compete at the Olympic Games in Paris

Tennis superstar Novak Djokovic will compete in the Olympic Games in Paris after his successful knee surgery. As the Serbian Olympic Committee announced on Tuesday, the 37-year-old is part of the two-man Serbian men’s team alongside Dusan Lajovic. The 24-time Grand Slam champion Djokovic is still missing a triumph at the Olympic tennis tournament in his lavish collection of titles.

At the beginning of June, the Serb had to withdraw from the French Open at the same venue due to a torn meniscus, which he sustained during his victory in the round of 16 against the Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo. He then lost the lead in the world rankings to the Italian Jannik Sinner, and Carlos Alcaraz also overtook the “Djoker”. According to Djokovic, the subsequent operation went well.

After 2008, 2012, 2016 and 2021, Djokovic will take part in the Olympic Games for the fifth time. In 2008 he won bronze in Beijing, but in 2012 and 2021 he only managed fourth place. For the 33-year-old Lajovic, it is his Olympic debut.
