Djokovic landed in London on Sunday and is now training regularly on the grass at Church Road, just three weeks after his operation on his right meniscus.

But will he actually compete? That is of course to be expected, even if the seven-time Wimbledon champ is exercising caution.

Djokovic told the BBC that he would only compete if he knew he would be able to go far in the tournament and compete for the title. “Otherwise, I’ll give someone else the opportunity to play.”

The rehab is going in the right direction, with a few percentage points improving every day. “That gives me hope and encourages me to keep going.” Especially since it’s still a week until the start.

“I have invested many hours in rehab over the past two and a half weeks. Many hours,” Djokovic stressed.

For the first time in his career, he is struggling with a major knee injury, “I’m trying to deal with it day by day as best I can.”

Djokovic lost the final against Carlos Alcaraz in exciting five sets last year.

The Djoker had a stuttering start to this year and is still without a tournament win.
