Nuggets Face Uncertainty as Kentavious Caldwell-Pope Considers Free Agency

The Nuggets lost Bruce Brown in 2023 and now face another really tough summer in which they could be without another key piece of the team like Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. The 31-year-old forward has a player option to continue in Denver, but it is also beginning to become clear that if he rejects it and leaves for free agency he could reach a succulent deal.

That is exactly the information that journalist Marc Stein handles. The player option Caldwell-Pope for 2024-25 stands at $15.4 million; However, both the Orlando Magic and the Philadelphia 76ers are strong suitors if he rejects it, since they have salary space to put an important contract in front of him.

Given such a scenario, everything indicates that the Colorado franchise player will choose to become a free agent, at which point the Nuggets themselves will have to decide to what extent he is indispensable for them. Last summer they explained that the goodbye of Brown and others like Jeff Green would be alleviated with young players who would be trusted to make them grow. In the regular season the play didn’t go completely wrong, but in the playoffs it wasn’t enough to go beyond the Eastern Conference semifinals.
