OG Anunoby Signs Record-Breaking Contract Extension with New York Knicks

OG Anunoby will stay in New York. According to information from NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski, the British-Nigerian winger will extend for five years with the Knicks for a contract worth $212.5 million, the largest in the history of the franchise.

A player option and a trade kicker (an option that grants money to the player if he is traded, which is intended to dissuade the franchise from doing so), would be included.

The 2019 NBA champion and member of the 2023 All-Defensive Second Team started the season at the Toronto Raptors, before being traded at the end of December with Malachi Flynn and Precious Achiuwa, for RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley.

At the end of his contract, the winger would have become a free agent if he had not decided to extend. He will join his teammates in New York for a first full year, in a squad that could still change in the coming weeks, after the arrival of Mikal Bridges on Tuesday.
