The “Nomura Dojo FUN TO JUDO” event, hosted by three-time Olympic gold medalist in the men’s 60kg judo event Tadahiro Nomura (49), was held in Nara City on the 30th. Guest instructors included Athens Olympic gold medalist and Japan national team coach Keiji Suzuki (44), London Olympic gold medalist Kaori Matsumoto (36), and former judoka and YouTuber Donmai Kawabata (34).

About 50 people of all ages and genders participated in this event, from children to adults. In the first part, the instructors demonstrated their favorite techniques and gave direct instruction to the participants, including those who had never done judo before.

In the second part, a special talk show was held to liven up the Paris Olympics, which are just around the corner. Nomura made a bold prediction about which Japanese athletes will win gold medals at the Paris Olympics, which got the crowd really excited.

At the end of the event, everyone, including the guest instructor, sent the participants off with a high-five. Nomura Dojo is usually held for children, but this time, in response to Nomura’s desire to “enjoy judo together with everyone,” many adults with no judo experience also came.

Nomura said with a refreshing smile, “Some people were experiencing judo for the first time, and I think it was great that we were able to create an opportunity for them to experience the spirit of judo, even if only for a moment. If even one more person comes to love judo, then I will be very satisfied.”
