OM Sells Portuguese Striker Vitinha to Genoa: Transfer Details Revealed

OM and Genoa have reached an agreement for the permanent transfer of Portuguese striker Vitinha to the Italian club. Marseille will recover 16 million euros in the operation, not counting the more or less automatic bonuses.

It is the story of a marriage that was initially much commented on but which never worked, and which ended in virtual indifference, in the middle of Euro 2024. A year and a half after his arrival at OM since Braga as part of an XXL transfer (25 million euros + 7 bonus), Portuguese striker Vitinha is preparing to permanently leave the Marseille club.

Olympique de Marseille have in recent hours completed an agreement with Genoa, where Vitinha has been on loan since January 2024, for the sale of the 24-year-old player. And the figures for the operation are now known: OM will receive 16 million “dry” euros from the Italian club, accompanied by 2 million euros in quasi-automatic bonuses, and 4 million bonus euros according to objectives that are more difficult to achieve.

OM will limit the damage

Clearly, OM will “limit the damage” by receiving at least 18 million euros, and possibly 22. As explained previously, the Marseille leaders have also included a buyout clause (estimated at 42 million euros ), if ever Vitinha were to explode in Serie A. Which, as it stands, is quite hypothetical.

After scoring 6 goals in 43 appearances with OM, the Portuguese has so far only found the net twice in 9 matches with Genoa.
