one player gets a 3.5

The French media were not exactly impressed by the Dutch team during the European Championship match with France (0-0) on Friday evening. The attacking players of the Dutch team in particular fare poorly.

Foot Market, one of France’s most popular football websites, rates all players afterwards. Memphis Depay (3.5), Jeremie Frimpong (4) and Xavi Simons (4.5) received very poor scores. “A bad match for the most experienced player of the selection,” writes Foot Market including about Depay. “The former Olympique Lyon player killed several counters and struggled to create chances.”

Also with Maxi Foot Depay is the lowest-rated player in the Dutch team, again with a final grade of 3.5. “Depay already disappointed against Poland and against France he was unable to raise his level. Depay was particularly notable for being technically inaccurate. Physically, he had to lose out to the French defenders time and time again. He was also sloppy in combinations with teammates,” he said.

Also from MadeInFoot Depay receives a 3.5 and is therefore also rated as the worst Dutch player by that medium. MadeInFoot follows Foot Market in his assessment of Frimpong and Simons, with a 4 and a 4.5 respectively.
