Ott Tänak sets fastest shakedown time ahead of Rally Poland

Winner of the Rally of Sardinia, Ott Tänak still seems confident when approaching the Rally of Poland, back on the calendar for the first time since 2017. Thursday morning, on the 5.1 km course, the Estonian signed the best time of each of the three shakedown passages. He ended up setting his best performance at 2’12”5. He is ahead of Thierry Neuville, his teammate at Hyundai and leader of the Championship, who is 1”1 behind.

Adrien Fourmaux took a good third place with his Ford M-Sport Puma (+1”8). Note that the Latvian Martins Sesks, who is the first to line up in the WRC with a Rally1 without a hybrid system, took 5th place (+2”5).

The Toyotas, on the other hand, did not show their best face, only ahead of Grégoire Munster among the Rally1s. Called up at the last minute after Sébastien Ogier’s withdrawal, Kalle Rovanperä took 7th place (+3”3), flanked by his teammates, Elfyn Evans (6th, +2”8) and Takamoto Katsuta (8th, +3 ”8). The latter two only attempted two passages compared to three for the other leading competitors.

On Thursday evening, from 7:05 p.m., the first super special will take place, opening the rally over 2.5 km, before a real stage on Friday which will be 113.5 km timed.
