Palmeiras Set to Announce Two New Signings: Agustín Giay and Maurício

Palmeiras is expected to announce two reinforcements in the coming days. These are right-back Agustín Giay, from San Lorenzo, and midfielder Maurício, who played for Internacional.

At just 20 years old, Giay has already arrived in Brazil and completed medical examinations to join Verdão. According to ge.globo, he must sign a five-season contract. Palmeiras must pay 7.5 million dollars (R$40.7 million) for 75% of the player’s economic rights. The full-back arrives to compete for position with Marcos Rocha and Mayke.

On his CV, the young man stood out for Argentina’s youth team and for the club, participating in 88 games, where he recorded 31 wins, 42 draws and 15 defeats, but scored just one goal.

The second name is known by Brazilians. Maurício, competed in the Brazilian Championship for Internacional. This week, Palmeiras concluded the negotiation and purchased 5% of the player’s economic rights, which belonged to Desportivo Brasil. In total, Verdão paid 500 thousand euros (around R$2.9 million) for this slice. The Porto Feliz club still maintained 15% of Mauricio’s economic rights.

Still according to ge.globo, the midfielder gave up his 5% so that the agreement could be completed. This means that, throughout the operation, Palmeiras must spend around R$50 million for 85% of the economic rights. He is currently recovering from trauma to his right knee. At Beira-Rio since 2020, the midfielder has played 176 games for the club, with 25 goals scored.
