Pandza and Bilyk local players of the year

Katarina Pandza and Mykola Bilyk have been chosen as Austria’s handball players of the year by a jury of experts. The men’s national team, led by Bilyk as captain at the successful European Championships, was named team of the year, and men’s team manager Ales Pajovic is coach of the year.

Pandza (22), who was chosen as the winner by a wide margin, won the double with her club Podravka Vegeta in Croatia last season. Long-time Kiel legionnaire Bilyk (27) narrowly won ahead of his national team colleagues Lukas Hutecek and Constantin Möstl.

Bilyk also nominated for EHF honours

A total of 110 female and male players from 21 nations have also been nominated by the European Handball Federation (EHF) for this year’s awards for the best players of the 2023/24 season.

The list published by the EHF on Tuesday also includes two Austrians, Sebastian Frimmel (left wing) and Bylik (left back). The awards will be presented on December 14 during the final weekend of the Women’s Euro in Vienna.
