Paris 2024 Olympic Games: contested selection and incendiary email, the French sword is torn before the Games

The media exercise will turn into a balancing act. On the one hand, those who want to calm things down. On the other, those who are ready to take responsibility and repeat angry words. All the French fencers officially selected for the Paris Olympic Games will meet this Tuesday, June 11 at Insep for the media day in preparation for the European Championships in Basel (June 18 to 23). A solid cast gathered at the Bois de Vincennes, even if the center of attention at the moment is one absent, who would have liked to be among those destined to line up on the slopes of the Grand Palais in less than two months.

For the moment, Alexandre Bardenet is not there and does not intend to let this happen. The 34-year-old fencer, selected to compete in the 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games individually and in teams, contests both in substance and in form the decision of the Olympic selection advisory commission not to retain him in the quartet of swordsmen selected for the Paris Olympics.
