Paris 2024 Olympic Games: Sam Allez, Sya Dembélé, Paul Jenft… The French qualified after the Budapest TQO

A weekend of high tension. Like the Shanghai TQO, several hundred athletes met in Budapest from June 20 to 23 for the final round of the race for Olympic qualification. Breakers, climbers, riders and skateboarders have not all succeeded in achieving their goal. Here is a summary of those qualified for the Olympics, but also those disappointed.

BMX freestyle

There will only be two French people this summer on the Place de la Concorde. 18th in Shanghai, Kévin Fabregue suffered a major fall during his first run. His head hit the ground heavily. The French vice-champion had to be evacuated on a stretcher. His fall directly deprived him of all hope. At the same time, Anthony Jeanjean, already qualified, won the event with a score of 93.40 points. Guaranteed to be in Paris too, Laury Perez ranked eighth and continued her preparation, having finished fourteenth in Shanghai.

Breaking

Sya Dembélé did it! After a fifth place in Shanghai, the Habs did better this Sunday by placing fourth. bgirl Senorita Carlota will also be at the Games. 14th in Shanghai, she finished 26th this weekend. Sarah Bee will not participate in the Olympics because of her 27th place. For the men, there was only one ticket at stake, Dany Dann having already qualified. Khalil Chabouni is not qualified. Gaëtan Alin (16th in Budapest) is in the top 24 at the end of the TQO. So he will go to the games.

Escalade

In climbing, Sam Avesou scored a victory which qualifies him for Paris. Paul Jenft (9th) will be the second French climber to win his ticket to Paris 2024. He is ahead of Mejdi Schalck overall, although better ranked this weekend with a sixth place. In the women’s combined, Zélia Allez qualified thanks to all of her results in the qualifying tournaments (12th in Budapest, 8th in Shanghai). She joins Oriane Bertone, already assured of being in Paris since last fall. Fanny Gibert, Manon Hily and Hélène Janicot will not participate in the Games.

Quickly, Capucine Viglione and Manon Lebon will also participate in the Olympics despite being eliminated in the quarterfinals in Budapest. The duo accumulated enough points across the two Olympic Qualifier Series. Lison Gautron (12th) and Victoire Andrier (26th) will be absent in Paris. Among the men, Bassa Mawem is already qualified. Guillaume Moro and Pierre Rebreyend, both outside the top 20 in Budapest, finished outside the top 5 overall.

Skateboard

In the park, Louise-Aina Taboulet qualified for the Olympics thanks to a 20th place this weekend, after a 12th place in China. Present in Tokyo in 2021, Madeleine Larcheron (33rd in Budapest) will not be there in Paris, just like Émilie Alexandre (35th). Among the men, it was Vincent Mathéron who won his ticket to the capital thanks to a nice 7th place. Edouard Damestoy, Noé Montagard and Tom Martin are not qualified.

In the women’s street race, Lucie Schoonheere missed out with a 36th place. Jérômine Louvet finished 19th, Charlotte Hyn 22nd. Finally, among the men, Aurélien Giraud finished 9th on this stage in Budapest. It is Joseph Garbaccio who gets his ticket to the Games. His 19th place in Budapest in fact maintains him. In the top 20 overall. 23rd before this weekend, Vincent Milou could not do better than 27th place and was eliminated.
