Paul George Enters Free Agency: Potential Landing Spots and Contract Details

Paul George joins the free agency party that starts next morning, where other stars are already swarming like LeBron James, Klay Thompson o James Harden. According to ESPN, George has rejected the player option to renew for one more year with the Los Angeles Clippers in exchange for 48.7 million after also failing to reach a long-term renewal agreement with the Los Angeles team.

The eaves of 34 years has several options on the table and PG is going to meet with the Clippers but also with the Philadelphia 76ers and the Orlando Magic between this Sunday and Monday. George is eligible to sign a four-year, $212 million contract.

The Sixers have been looking for a star to put next to Joel Embiid since Harden’s departure -precisely to the Clippers-, while the Magic would look for an experienced elite star to lead their talented group of young players headed by Paul Banker.

George enters free agency at a very opportune time after a remarkable season in which he finally escaped injuries in both the regular season and the playoffs, playing 74 parties -his highest figure in five years-, while he did not miss a single game in the postseason. The Clippers fell to the Dallas Mavericks in six games (4-2).

The forward averaged 22.6 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists in the regular season with 47% in field goals and 41% in triples.

If he does not continue in Los Angeles, the Clippers will not take the way their star leaves very well, because by not having activated his player option they will not be able to make a trade with which to obtain something in return, the Los Angeles team cut draft capital.

After renewing the Kawhi Leonard in January for 3 years and 153 million and also finishing ensuring the continuity of Russell Westbrook, Tyronn Lue’s team faces free agency with the unknowns of James Harden and a Paul George who could be one of the market’s bombshells. Especially if he goes to the Sixers to form a duo with Embiid.
