Peru Hosts Pan American Senior Fencing Championship at Legado Velodrome with Over 200 Athletes

The country hosts the international event at the Legado Velodrome, with the participation of more than 200 athletes.

Lima will host important fencers. The best fencers on the continent returned to Peru to compete in the Pan American Senior Fencing at the Velodrome of the Legado Videna headquarters, organized by the Peruvian Fencing Federation.

María Luisa Doig, who will carry the flag of Peru at the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, began her participation in the Senior Pan American Championship with an outstanding performance, placing among the top 32 in the Women’s Sword modality. The outstanding national fencer defeated the Colombian Carmen Correa and ended her participation by facing the Argentine Isabel Di Tella.

In the women’s branch, Peru is represented by a talented group of fencers: Ana Paula Álvarez, Karol Larico, Alessia Massa, Fabiana Rojas, Ivanna García, Kusi Rosales, Mariana Soriano, Cielo Vizcarra, Valeria Chipoco, Aixa Álvarez, Darma Canal, María Karina Galindo and María Fernanda Tudela. This team demonstrates the growing strength and depth of talent in Peruvian fencing, which continues to gain recognition in international competitions.

In the men’s category, Peru is represented by Sebastián Bereche, Fabrizio García, Cristóbal Indacochea, Nicolás Zagal and Andrés Espinoza, who compete in the Espada and Foil categories. In men’s foil, the team is made up of Isaac Ariza, Joaquín Espinoza, Víctor Ramírez, Alessio Fukuda, Alejandro Narro, Lukas Eichhorn, Joel Galván, Rubina Salvador and Fabián Huapaya.

Total participants

A total of 262 fencers will participate in the Pan American Senior Lima 2024, from 21 countries. They will compete until June 30 in 12 events, 6 individual and 6 for teams (Women’s Foil, Men’s Foil, Women’s Espada, Men’s Espada, Women’s Saber and Men’s Saber).

The international competition, organized by the Peruvian Fencing Federation, is graced with the participation of the American Lee Kiefer, ranked first in the world ranking in women’s foil; Brazilian Nathalie Moellhausen, fourth in the world ranking in women’s epee; among others.

The Special Legacy Project, through its infrastructure, will continue to work in coordination with the different federations to hold more national and international events, valid for American exponents to compete in high-level sports venues.
