Peruvian Judo Team Shines at Lima 2024 Pan American Open

Peruvian pride! The national judo team won seven medals, including one gold at the Lima 2024 Pan American Open, an event that was organized by the Peruvian Sports Federation of this discipline, which took place on June 21 and 22.

A total of 76 athletes from 23 countries participated, with Peruvian Camila Figueroa standing out, who rose to the top of the podium in the -78 kilos division, after defeating Isabella Garriga, from the United States, in the dispute for gold.

Another Peruvian who also won a medal on the second and last day of competitions was Franck Mayer (+100 kg), who won silver after losing in the final to the Japanese Tatsuru Saito (2022 world champion).

The other five medals of our delegation were achieved on the opening day thanks to Driulys Rivas (-52 kg), Marian Flores (-57 kg) and Franco Baltazar (-66 kg), who won the silver; as well as Hillary Lam (-63 kg) and Javier Saavedra (-73 kg), who achieved bronze.

It should be noted that Peru was in fourth place in the medal table. The podium was headed by El Salvador, followed by Argentina and Costa Rica.
