Philadelphia Phillies Place Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber on Injured List After Miami Marlins Game

The Philadelphia Phillies placed first baseman Bryce Harper and designated hitter Kyle Schwarber on the 10-day injured list Friday.

Both were injured Thursday night in a 7-4 loss to the Miami Marlins.

Harper suffered a strained left hamstring running the bases in the ninth inning after trying to get ahead of a grounder.

On Thursday, he was named to the National All-Star team for the eighth time in his career.

The NL MVP in 2015 and 2021, Harper is hitting .303 this season with 20 home runs and 58 RBIs.

He has hit from a safe place in his last 12 games.

Schwarber suffered a strained left groin in the eighth, throwing a throw from left field.

He was playing as an outfielder for only the third time this season.

Schwarber is hitting .250 this year, with 17 homers and 49 RBIs.

He struck out 59 times, a league high.

Philadelphia has the best record in the National League (53-28 before Friday’s game against Miami).
