Pico Football Club left no doubts in the Piquense derby and tonight beat Independiente 71 to 48 to qualify for the semi-finals in the Men’s First Division of the “Joaquín Febre” Provincial Basketball Tournament, while the other team that celebrated at home was Atlético Villegas, who beat Cultural Argentino de Pico 61 to 53 to also get into the top four of the competition.
On Sunday, El Decano will play, also at Angel Larrea Park, against the winner of Belgrano and Sportivo Realicó (they play this Friday at 9pm in Santa Rosa) and Villegas will have as his rival the winner of All Boys and Estudiantes (they also play the classic this Friday at 9pm).
Pico confirmed its status as favorite thanks to the goals of Emiliano Sombra (19 points), well accompanied by Tomás Olivero (12) and built its victory as the minutes went by. The great standout for the Rojo was Juan Acebal, top scorer with 22 points. Partial scores: 14-9, 37-23, 54-36 and 71-48.
Villegas, meanwhile, had a great start with a 20-5 in the first quarter and although Cultural knew how to react, the Buenos Aires team held on and took the victory and the passage thanks to Gustavo Olalde, with 16 points, Agustín Niveyro (15) and Ignacio Fortain (13). In the visiting team, Nicolás Bergonzi scored 13 points, Federico Araujo 12 and Maxi Fernández 10. Partials: 20-5, 31-24, 47-41 and 61-53.
