French pilot Pierre Gasly has extended his contract with Formula One (F-1) World Championship team Alpine, the athlete confirmed on Thursday. The contract was extended for two years – until the end of the 2026 season.

Gasly joined the team before the previous season and won 62 points in 22 races last year, ranking 11th in the championship standings. “I feel at home in this team,” Gasly commented on the contract extension. “I have been here for 18 months and the plan has always been to sign a long-term contract. Even though this season has not been successful yet, I keep my faith in this project and I am not going to go anywhere.”

This season, in ten F-1 races, the 28-year-old Frenchman has scored five points, which gives him 15th place overall, while his teammate and compatriot Esteban Ocon has won three points, being in 16th position.

The “Alpine” unit has already announced that after this season the cooperation with Ocon will be terminated, but it is not yet known who will be the team’s second pilot.

Meanwhile, another F-1 team, Aston Martin, has extended the contract with the Canadian pilot Lens Strol until 2026, the unit announced on Thursday.

It has already been reported that the second “Aston Martin” pilot, the two-time world champion Spaniard Fernando Alonso, extended his contract with the team until 2026 already in April. “I’m super excited to stay with the team next season and beyond,” the 25-year-old Canadian driver said on Thursday. “It’s amazing to see how far we’ve come in the last five years. We have grown a lot as a team, but there is still a lot to do.”

Stroll made his F-1 debut in 2017 in the Williams team, in 2019 he moved to Racing Point, which became Aston Martin in 2021. The owner of the team is the pilot’s father Lawrence Stroll.

Last season, Stroll finished tenth overall with 74 points, while Alonso ended the season in fourth place with 204 points. Aston Martin was fifth in the Constructors’ Cup.

This season, after ten stages, Stroll has reached 17 points, which gives him 11th place, while Alonso is ninth with 41 points. Aston Martin ranks fifth in the team standings with 58 points.
