Pirates of Quebradillas Dominate Vaqueros with 93-72 Victory in BSN Matchup

The Pirates of Quebradillas scored their first 31 points without missing a basket attempt in the first quarter that ended 34-16 on the way to an eventual 93-72 victory over the Vaqueros at the Rubén Rodríguez Coliseum in Bayamón.

The Vaqueros won the second quarter 23-22, but Quebradillas maintained a 17-point lead, finishing ahead 56-39 before halftime.

The third quarter began with Bayamón cutting the lead to 13 points. However, Quebradillas retained its dominance in the third period 82-60.

The Pirates’ victory prevented Atléticos de San Germán from qualifying for the postseason of the National Superior Basketball (BSN).

Emmanuel Mudiay scored 25 points with seven rebounds and seven assists, followed by Phillip Wheeler with 19 points and seven rebounds in the victory.

For Bayamón, Brandon Boyd and Tony Bishop contributed 14 and 13 points, respectively, in the defeat.

Manatee soars

On the other hand, a power outage at 7:30 pm delayed the start of the confrontation between the Criollos and the Osos de Manatí in the last game of the regular phase of Caguas at the Roger Mendoza Coliseum.

Manatí won 80-79.

The Criollos, who were without suspended Louis King and Christian “Cuco” Lopez, limited the Bears to just three baskets in the first quarter for a 17-6 lead.

Manatí doubled its lead in the first three minutes of the second period and shortened the difference to six, but it was not enough and Caguas finished ahead 35-29 heading into the second half.

Norris Cole was the leader of Manatí’s offense with 17 points and 13 assists. He was accompanied by Jamil Wilson with 16 and 13 rebounds, as well as Cheick Diallo, who contributed 14 points.
