The French center Vincent Poirier will not continue in the ranks of Real Madrid after signing for Turkish Anadolu Efes for the next three seasons, as announced this Tuesday by the Istanbul team on their ‘X’ account.
Poirier was the top blocker in the Euroleague last season, tied with his Real Madrid teammate Walter Tavares, with an average of 1.5 blocks per game. In the Endesa League, he was third, after the Cape Verdean and the Ukrainian from Monbus Obradoiro Artem Pustovyi, with an average of 1.6.
After three and a half years at the white club, which he joined in April 2021 from the NBA, the Frenchman leaves after his best season as a Real Madrid player, averaging 9 points and 5.3 rebounds in the Euroleague, and 8.2 points and 5.3 rebounds in the Endesa League.
His role in Chus Mateo’s team varied over the course of the season, being essential at the beginning of the season due to Tavares’ discomfort, and adapting to the substitute position in the final stretch of the season, with outstanding performances such as the 16 points and 10 rebounds against Maccabi, or 18 points against Bayern Munich.
In the Endesa League, he had 22 points and 8 rebounds at the start of the campaign against Barça, and 19 points and 9 rebounds against BAXI Manresa. He has been one of the key pieces in a campaign in which the white team closed with three titles: League, Copa del Rey and Super Cup, and in which they reached the Euroleague final, which they lost to Panathinaikos, with 8 points and 4 rebounds from French.
