Polish Tennis Star, Šviontek, Extends Winning Streak at French Open Semifinals

In the semifinals, Šviontek defeated the next runner-up in the ranking and currently the owner of the third position, Cory Goff from the USA, by 6-2, 6-4, extending her winning streak on the Paris courts to 20 matches.

The Polish tennis player will try to win her fourth French Open title and third in a row. In the women’s tournament, the Belgian Žistine Enina previously achieved such a feat from 2007 to 2009.

Šviontek has won 11 out of 12 matches against Gofu, including last year’s quarterfinals and the 2022 final.

Her opponent in the final will be the 12th seeded Paolini (WTA 15th), who beat the unseeded Russian tennis player Mirra Andrejeva (WTA 38th) 6-3, 6-1.

The last time an Italian tennis player played in the French Open final was in 2012, when Sara Errani participated in the title match, losing to Maria Sharapova.

In her first 16 “Grand Slam” tournaments, the 28-year-old Paolini did not get beyond the second round, but this year at the “Australian Open” she fought until the fourth round.

Šviontek was undefeated in all four previous “Grand Slam” finals in which she played.

The second “Grand Slam” tournament of the season, the French Open Championship, will take place until June 9.
