Porsche sets the best time of Test Day at Le Mans

The first step towards the start of the 24 Hours of Le Mans next Saturday (June 15) at 4 p.m. took place on Sunday on the Sarthe circuit, with the Test Day. Six hours of driving which allowed the 62 crews to carry out various tests on the cars, to find the first settings, to collect data on tire degradation, and for the rookies present to discover the circuit and complete their ten laps regulatory.

Under the sun and on a completely dry track, which will probably not remain so all next week, it is no great surprise, given the start of the 963 season, the Porsches which dominated the debates from a point of view chronometric. Two official German Hypercars from the Penske team finished in the first two places, with the n°6 (Estre – Lotterer – Vanthoor, 3’26″907), the one which occupies first place in the WEC Championship, ahead of the n°4, the American of Jaminet, Nasr and Tandy (3’27″142).

French Hypercars absent from the top 10

Behind this duo of 963, it is Toyota that places its GR010 n°8 (Buemi – Hartley – Hirakawa) in 3rd place, still seven tenths behind. They are followed by the Porsche n°5 (Campbell – Christensen – Makowiecki), the Ferrari 499P n°50 (Fuoco – Molina – Nielsen), the BMW n°20 (Van der Linde – Frijns – Rast), the Lamborghini n°63 (Bortolotti – Kvyat – Mortara), the Ferrari of AF Corse n°83 (Kubica – Shwartzman – Ye), the Porsche of Team JOTA n°12 (Stevens – Nato – Ilott) and the second Toyota, n°7 (Lopez – Kobayashi – De Vries), who caused a red flag at the end of the session after a spin.

The French Hypercars do not appear in this top 10: the Peugeot 9X8 version 2024 are 13th for the 94 (Vandoorne – Di Resta – Duval), and 21st for the 93 (Vergne – Jensen – Müller), at 2″41 and 2 “98.
