Prominent Judo Coach Marvin García Making an Impact in Quetzaltenango

Marvin García is a prominent judo coach from Quetzaltenango. His adventure in this sport began at a very young age in 1986, when he joined the Quetzaltenango national team to begin training. As an athlete, he managed to have a good career, achieving several national medals and a bronze medal at the Central American Games.

For 10 years he represented Quetzaltenango in different events, when in 1996 he got the opportunity, due to his good performance, to be a coach for the association. Since he has held it from that date to the present.

“I started in the sport at a very young age, I practiced several disciplines and in the end I found a passion in judo, which I still maintain,” said the coach.

Judo is a sport that requires a lot of discipline and sacrifice, aspects that were important for the coach to fall in love with this sport.

“What I like most about judo is the discipline, the sacrifice that is made, how legal it is, because values ​​are promoted. I hope to continue training more young people and children in Quetzaltenango,” he assured.

García’s goal is to continue training more generations. Among his achievements as a coach, he highlights having had several national and Central American championships in Quetzaltenango.

The judo association’s training sessions take place from Monday to Friday in the former military zone, during the morning and afternoon.
