PSG handball: captain Luka Karabatic extends until 2026

There will still be a Karabatic in Paris for the next two seasons. While Nikola ended his Parisian adventure with a new Starligue title and is preparing to retire after the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, his brother Luka extended his contract until 2026 this Friday afternoon. “Paris Saint-Germain Handball is pleased to announce the extension of Luka Karabatic for an additional year,” the club made official via a press release on its website.

Nine-time French champion with PSG, the 36-year-old captain and pivot, who arrived in the capital in 2015, will therefore surpass the decade in Paris. “I am delighted to extend my commitment with Paris Saint-Germain and proud to wear this jersey for another year,” Karabatic reacted on the club’s official website. This is a new stage in our common adventure, and I would like to thank the club for its trust. I am still determined to give my best to strive for excellence and achieve our goals, with the unconditional support of our supporters. »

“An exemplary captain”

A satisfaction shared by Thierry Omeyer, general manager of Paris Saint-Germain. “Keeping Luka Karabatic in our team until 2026 is a great satisfaction,” explains the former French international. “He is an exemplary captain, who has been among the best pivots in the world for many years. His leadership and experience will remain valuable assets in the quest for new titles over the next two seasons.”

In addition to the league titles, Luka Karabatic has also won three League Cups, as many French Cups, and four Champions Trophies in the Parisian jersey. A finalist in 2017, he has never won the Champions League and will therefore try during his next two years to win the only trophy missing from his list of achievements.
