Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz fight together for gold in Paris

Clay court king Rafael Nadal and French Open winner Carlos Alcaraz are going on a gold medal mission together at the Olympics. The two Spaniards will compete in doubles at the Summer Games in Paris (July 27 to August 4), Spanish Olympic coach David Ferrer confirmed on Wednesday. In addition, both tennis pros will also compete in the singles competition.

Although they have never played together as a duo, 37-year-old Nadal and young star Alcaraz (21) are among the favorites: The Olympic tournament will take place on the clay court of Roland Garros, where Nadal won the French Open 14 times. Alcaraz triumphed for the first time last Sunday with his final victory over Olympic champion Alexander Zverev.

Tennis legend Nadal won the gold medal in doubles with Marc Lopez at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro; in 2008 he won the singles.
