Spanish tennis star Rafael Nadal (38) will take part in the Olympic Games in Paris and will compete in doubles with French Open winner Carlos Alcaraz (21).

The Spanish Tennis Federation confirmed the double combination on Wednesday. “Good news,” commented tennis icon Boris Becker.

The Olympic tennis tournament will be held at the Stade Roland Garros, where Nadal is the record champion. Alcaraz, who is considered his successor in Spanish tennis, crowned himself French Open winner for the first time last Sunday in the final against German Alexander Zverev.

It is still not clear who will receive the two singles wildcards from the International Tennis Federation ITF for former Grand Slam winners: Nadal is clearly in pole position, but candidates also include Andy Murray, Stan Wawrinka and Dominic Thiem.
