Record-Breaking Turnout at the 2024 TCC Open: A Recap of Results and Highlights

On Saturday May 18, the 2024 vintage of the TCC Open will go down in history. No less than 420 players registered to participate in one of the 6 categories offered (men’s singles, women’s singles, +35 men and women, +45 and +55 men). A waiting list of more than 100 applicants was formed to ultimately find space for 309 participants.

The weather not having been good this year, it was necessary to redouble the ingenuity of the organizers and count on the support of neighboring and friendly clubs (Fonbeauzard, Aucamville, Lespinasse, Fenouillet and Saint-Alban), who were kind enough to help by making their covered facilities available. And so on Monday May 20, 35 matches were played in a single day, for a final total of 298 matches over the entire tournament.

The results of this edition are as follows: in women’s singles, JR (Balma TC, 4/6) beat SG (Stade Toulousain TC, 5/6) by 6/3-6/1. In the +35 ladies category, NEB (Committee 31, 15/4) beat MVW (TUC TC, 15/5). In men’s singles, TD (Castanet-Tolosan TC, 3/6) beat TD (Rochefort SA, 3/6) by 6/3-6/2. In the +35 men’s category, WA (Rowing Nouveau, 15/5) beat RB (Auch TC, 15/2) by 6/3-2/0 and retirement. In the men’s +45 category, CR (Aucamville TC, 15/2) beat MF (Balma TC, 15/1) by 6/1/6/4. In +55 men, PC (Emulation Nautique TC, 30) beats TM (Lespinasse TC, 30) beat 6/4-6/0.

For the record, the youngest participant in this “adult” tournament, ZRM (Saint-Orens, 15/5) was only 9 and a half years old. Hopefully she’ll return for the TCC youth-only Magic tournament June 15-29.

In view of registrations for next season, the TCC will hold 2 offices at the club headquarters on Wednesday June 12 (3 p.m. to 7 p.m.) and Friday June 14 (5 p.m. to 8 p.m.).
