Mari Jota Jaén from Arcoclub las Lomas is proclaimed regional champion, Alfredo Serrano and Arantxa Serrano runners-up in the regional archery championship held in Alovera, Guadalajara last Sunday, June 2.
The championship took place with mild temperatures at the beginning, which increased throughout the day, becoming stifling during the qualifying rounds and the end of the trophy presentation.
Almost a hundred archers from different clubs in the region gathered to fight for the top spots in the regional championship, coinciding with the 4th round of the FCMTA outdoor league.
Arcoclub las lomas participated with its 3 archers, Arantxa Serrano in the compound bow modality, Mari Jota Jaén and Alfredo Serrano in the Longbow bow modality.
Mari Jota Jaén, despite having had some rounds with not very high scores, won 1st place in the qualifier, which would lead her to face Agustina Talavera from Puertollano in the semifinals, and although she started losing the first set, she achieved victory which would lead him to throw the final against Almudena Barbas de Manzarco. Gold final where Mari Jota Jaén would achieve victory, revalidating the position of regional champion for the second consecutive year, accompanied in 3rd position by M.ª de las Mercedes Ortiz from Manzarco and Agustina Talavera from Puertollano.
Arantxa Serrano had some even rounds and since there were only 3 women in compound bow she had no chance of qualifying, finishing 2nd classified along with Belén Chacón from Arqueros de Don Quijote who finished 1st and Isabel Fernández from Águila Imperial who finished in 3rd position.
Alfredo Serrano was weaker during the first half, but in the second half he returned to his usual score, remaining in 1st position in the qualifier.
Alfredo would fight in the quarterfinal eliminators against Juan Francisco de Manzarco, winning the Cuenca player and going to the semifinals against Cristian Lara de Manzarco, the fight was even, but Alfredo with effort tipped the balance in his favor, winning again and moving to the fight for 1st place. On this occasion he fought in the final against Ángel García from Guadalajara who gave him no respite, defeating the man from Cuenca and becoming Champion of Castilla-La Mancha, Alfredo Runner-up and the two 3rd places for Cristian Lara from Manzarco and Jonatán Martin from Navalucillos.
