Remembering Eduardo Tarifa Ordóñez: A Tribute to the Flamenco Singer and Defender of Saetas

Eduardo Tarifa Ordóñez, the flamenco singer and defender of saetas, passed away today at the age of 82.

Tarifa combined her work with her passion for flamenco, participating in countless festivals and receiving numerous awards.

He was part of that group of local artists who stood out in Baena as: Antonio Ramos “El Andarín”, Antonio Quesada Santiago, Antonio Peña “El Coco”, Antonio Padilla Izquierdo, Rafael León Henares, José Garrido Tienda, Emilio Rosales among others.

Once settled in Baena, he dedicated himself for many years to spreading the value of the saeta during Holy Week in Baena. Furthermore, he was a precursor of the first saetas workshop, which numerous students have attended and which today includes local singers who master this type of singing.

A few months ago Eduardo Tarifa received a loving tribute in his own home from the Association of Brotherhoods and the mayor of the town María Jesús Serrano, for his dedication over many years to spreading this art.

The unburied corps mass will take place tomorrow, June 27, at 12:30 in the morning in the Parish of Our Lady of Guadalupe
