Bahiense del Norte became a finalist in the Primera tournament, beating Leandro N. Alem tonight, 61 to 55, at the Casanova.

In this way, they sealed the series 3-2 and on Monday they will begin playing the final for the title against Villa Miter, also at the Casanova, in the best of five.

The verdirrojo started with greater fluidity, perhaps as a result of maintaining a line and a known quintet, against a rival who came out without two of the usual starters, such as Leo La Bella and Sebastián Luengo (injured and not even changed). It wasn’t something minor.

Lautaro Cavero came into play quickly, creating spaces and knowing how to choose shots on firm foot when he received or, well, putting the ball on the ground and taking the step to be more free.

In front, Bahiense, somewhat tied, had one shot per attack and on top of that they didn’t make it. Cortés then took over the defensive rebound and from there the visit built his offense.

The 14-3 in 8m10 seemed to set the course for the first quarter. However, until the end of the starting 10, Bahiense had a breath of oxygen that came from the bench, with Augusto Cárdenas and Tobías Rodríguez, to record an 8-0 run and close 14-11.

Alem continued without putting it at distance and that conditioned him. Because the tricolor sank a little more, he gave it the shot and tied it at 14, extending the partial to 11-0, at 1:50 of the second quarter.

The green-red team went 4m10 without converting, only having the advantage again in 2m20 of the second quarter (16-14). The 0-8 in triples was a nightmare for the team led by Mauro Polla (he said goodbye today), starting to see the rim getting smaller and even getting out of line.

With Eddie Roberson as the offensive leader, the tricolor took the lead by 1. However, Alem strengthened his defense on the perimeter, preventing the ball from entering the paint easily. And ahead, he played more 1v1 with the work of Diel and appearances by Alan González.

Thus they went 24-27 in the first half.

Upon return, in an extremely even process, without giving themselves advantages and where each ball weighed, the 0-13 in triples conditioned him in the game and mentally for Alem, who although he showed resources forward, logically began to take shorter shots.

And that favored the tricolor defense to become bigger and leave fewer spaces to cover.

The growth at the back gave confidence forward to Bahiense, the complete opposite of its rival.

With the kid Cárdenas (first year youth) playing at a high level, showing personality, reading of the game and technical gestures to take advantage, added to the work of Roberson, the leadership of Lamonega and the 8-8 in free kicks that he scored in the fourth , the tricolor reached a maximum of 8, closing the quarter 45-38.

The difference widened to 47-38, with two free kicks from Hollender and a total from the line of 17-19!

Relief for Alem came with the team’s first triple, scored by Cortés (which would be the only one of 20 overall) and thus reduce the difference to 5, with 8m25 remaining.

However, Alem left the game for a moment when he complained to the referees for a loss to Cavero and paid dearly for it, because he became disorganized and Bahiense took advantage of it, playing with greater patience and reading.

The exit due to fouls by Marcos Fernández generated a question, because it had made Diel uncomfortable. The truth is that Diel assumed a more leading role, carrying Alem’s game a bit, while Bahiense began to hesitate, losing clarity and balls.

The green-red adjusted the defense, pressed and had its results, in a procedure that took temperature.

With more nerves than game on both sides, there was a technical on Gigena and he went out due to fouls, the same as Roberson (offensive foul, fifth and technical).

They both hurried, neither of them made any concrete decisions. In that game of errors, from 2m52 left until 14 seconds left the scoreboard did not move.

Hollender missed from under the rim, took the offensive rebound and was fouled: 1-2 (57-54).

With 8 seconds, Lamonega cut off Horvath and the point guard, unlike the previous game (decisive from the line), went 1 of 2: 57-55.

In the replacement, González quickly fouled Hollender, who made 2 of 2: 59-55. There were still 8 seconds left, and Cortés took a corner shot that went wide.

The ball ended up in the hands of Lamonega, who was fouled, made it 2-2 (25-30 overall for the team) and sealed the score at 61-55.

Bahiense del Norte is a finalist!
