Sérgio Conceição has already completed the formation of a new technical team. The fact that he has not yet secured a move to any club for next season has not stopped the recent winner of the Portuguese Cup, with FC Porto, from restructuring the work group in order to be ready for any challenge that may arise.

Two major additions are thus recorded, which Record reveals, and which addresses the controversial departure of Vítor Bruno, who chose to emancipate himself, ending up immediately taking command of the dragons after seven years as assistant.

It was with his trusted men that Conceição, 49 years old, was about to take over the leadership of Marseille. The verbal agreement for three seasons was in place, but the French club demanded that the Portuguese sign a promissory contract in the middle of the month for bureaucratic reasons, something that was refused due to the fact that Sérgio was still linked to FC Porto until June 30th. It was from there that the divergence arose that ended up making understanding unfeasible.

Sérgio Conceição’s “signings” are João Carlos Costa and Fábio Moura, who join the already known Siramana Dembelé, Diamantino Figueiredo, Eduardo Oliveira and Vedran Runje. The former Croatian goalkeeper remains untouched in his loyalty, despite having seen his continuity at FC Porto taken for granted despite the team manager’s split with SAD.

João Carlos Costa, 51 years old, born in Valença, worked alongside Fernando Santos in the last decade. He initially did so with PAOK, between 2008 and 2010, then with the Greek national team and then with Portugal, having participated in the campaign to win the European title in 2016. He was also with Santos in Poland and Besiktas. Only now, that the Engineer has decided to head to Azerbaijan, does Costa follow another path and join forces with Sérgio Conceição, providing added value in the fields of training methodology and physical preparation.

The other new addition is Fábio Moura, 37 years old. He is António Folha’s assistant at FC Porto B, where he completed a six-season partnership that began at Portimonense in 2018/19. With extensive experience in the training ranks of the blue and whites, and a native of Trofa, he embraces a more demanding challenge, receiving Conceição’s vote of confidence.

Even though he doesn’t have a club that is ready to secure his loan, Sérgio Conceição doesn’t intend to stay still. The definition of a reinforced technical core confirms that the former Dragon has left aside the idea of promoting a sabbatical year.

Therefore, the new technical team will start working from July onwards, defining principles, carrying out observations and fine-tuning methodologies, in order to be fully ready to move forward if the invitation arises that seduces the ambitious spirit of Conceição, a coach who believes he has the capacity to take on a project that allows him to aspire to winning international titles. Sérgio Conceição has already completed the formation of a new technical team. The fact that entry into any club for next season has not yet been assured has not prevented the recent …
