The first day of the Italian Absolute Championships took place in La Spezia of athletics, fourteen Italian titles were up for grabs in the Ligurian town with just one month to go until the 2024 Paris Olympics (tomorrow the window to obtain the minimum and improve the international ranking will close).

The European Champion reached the seventh and eighth obstacle, then broke down the last barrier in form: the Roman has infinite margins for improvement, he triumphed in Rome in 13.05 and can amaze at the Olympics. 100 METRES (WOMEN) – Zaynab Dosso doesn’t push herself to the max: rightly the physique must be preserved in view of the big event of the season. The Italian record holder (11.01) and bronze medalist at the last European Championships didn’t start very well, then she offered a good throw and in the end she got up again closing at 11.20 (0.8 m/s of wind in her favor): today she wanted to try some details and test her condition. Behind her Arianna De Masi (11.28) and Chiara Melon (11.49).

5000 METERS (WOMEN) – Nadia Battocletti brilliantly honours her Italian commitment, winning the race as predicted: a slow pace and then a change of pace in the last two laps to set a time of 15:24.69. Everything was easy for the European Champion and Italian record holder, with Elisa Palmero (15:35.68) and Micol Majori (15:37.91) finishing behind her.

5000 METERS (MALE) – Pietro Arese embraces the long distance after winning bronze in the 1500 meters at the European Championships and setting the national record in the metric mile. The Piedmontese won with a personal best of 13:35.97, ahead of Pietro Riva (13:40.31) and Jacopo De Marchi (13:44.25).
100 HURDLES – Giada Carmassi roared an excellent 12.87 (0.4 m/s of tailwind) and became the fourth Italian ever, twelve hundredths of a second behind the national record held by Luminosa Bogliolo. Behind her were Elisa Maria Di Lazzaro (13.02) and Veronica Besana (13.08).
TRIPLE JUMP (WOMEN) – Dariya Derkach confirms her prediction from the day before with a nice leap of 14.19 meters, placed in the last assault after a previous 14.16. The Italian improved her seasonal performance by nine centimeters, winning the tricolor ahead of Veronica Zanon (13.51) and Erika Saraceni (13.43).
POLE VAULT (WOMEN) – Roberta Bruni won by clearing 4.55 meters on the first attempt, then he failed on three attempts at 4.65. Behind him Sonia Malavisi (4.40 at the third), Maria Roberta Gherca (4.25 at the first) and Elisa Molinarolo (4.25 to the second).
HIGH JUMP (WOMEN) – Idea Pieroni she won by clearing 1.88 meters on the first attempt, preceding Asia Tavernini (1.88 on the second) and Giulia De Marchi (1.85).
TRIPLE JUMP (MEN) – Andrea Dallavalle stands out with 16.77 metres, followed by Tobia Bocchi (16.37) and Gabriele Tosti (15.73).
DISCUS THROW (WOMEN) – Here comes the counter performance you don’t expect: Daisy Osakuenational record holder and finalist at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, commits three invalids and closes the race without measure. The Piedmontese, already out of the final at the last European Championships, is not going through her best moment of form and will have to reverse the trend in view of the Paris 2024 Games. The decisive push was that of Emily Conte, who excelled with 56.82 meters: the 2002 class got the better of Stefania Strumillo (56.65) and Elena Varriale (53.33).
HAMMER THROW (MALE) – Marco Lingua won the title at the age of 46, confirming himself as an authentic highlander: eighteenth Italian championship in his career, nineteen seasons after his first success. The Piedmontese succeeded in the coup with a thrust of 69.66 meters placed in the last assault, thus managing to surpass Giorgio Olivieri by four centimeters (69.62), third Davide Costa (69.33).
JAVELIN SHOT (WOMEN) – Emanuela Casadei she won with a personal best of 56.49, getting the better of Adjimon Adanhoegbe (54.07) and Paola Padovan (53.74).
JAVELIN THROW (MEN) – Giovanni Frattini wins the race with a 75.40 meter shoulder, ahead of Roberto Orlando (74.53) and Simone Comini (74.38).

400 HURDLES (MEN) – Alessandro Sibilio controls the situation, saving himself a lot after winning the silver medal at the European Championships with the Italian record of 47.50. Campania yes scores 50.81 ahead of the final tomorrow, where he will try to stamp a time worthy of his rank. 400 METERS (WOMEN) – The favourites on the eve of the race are in control of the situation: Giancarla Trevisan (51.92), Alice Mangione (52.14), Ilaria Accame (52.32), Alessandra Bonora (52.43) are advancing easily, watch out for Fatoumata Kabo (52.24).
800 METERS (WOMEN) – Eloisa Coiro signs the best time of the round (2:04.59) preceding Maria Colajanni (2:04.72) and Laura Pellicoro (2:04.76).
800 METERS (MEN) – Francesco Pernici sets the benchmark time (1:48.41), preceding Tommaso Maniscalco (1:48.43) and Giovanni Lazzaro (1:48.44), also ahead Simone Barontini con 1:49.74.
PROVE MULTIPLE
Marta Giale Giovannini excels after four trials in the heptathlon with 3,312 points ahead of Sara Chiaratti (3,244) and Alice Lunardoni (3,177). In the decathlon, sensational three zeros at 1.84 for Dario Dester and so the national record holder had to be called off: after five tests Andrea Cerrato stands out (3.929) ahead of Lorenzo Mellano (3.709) and Simon Zandarco (3.684).
