Between May 24 and 25, 2024, Riobamba hosted South American judo with the celebration of the VIII edition of the Fausto Méndez Veterans Judo Cup – Riobamba 2024. This event, organized by the group Judokas por Siempre, brought together 180 veteran athletes.
Judokas from all over the country participated in the Cup
The Chimborazo Sports Federation (FDCH) shone in the tournament, becoming champions with a total of 137 points. The Azuay team placed in second place with 135 points, followed by Guayas in third position with 133 points. This tournament, dedicated to judokas aged 30 and older, demonstrated the high competitive level and passion that remains alive among judo veterans. Participating teams included Azuay, Club Ippon Quito, Club Generación Mejía, El Oro, Guayas, Club Kito Ryu, National Police, Club Team Prado de Cuenca, Club Tomoo Hamana de Cañar, Club Wimlincan de Tungurahua and the host Chimborazo presented outstanding performances of his judokas.
