Rising Star Dzenan Pejcinovic Extends Contract with Wolfsburg, Set for Loan Deal

Dzenan Pejcinovic is one of Germany’s greatest attacking talents, and the 19-year-old is accordingly sought after. He has now extended his contract with VfL Wolfsburg for the long term – and according to information from kicker, he will soon be loaned out.

Most recently, none other than the Premier League champions came knocking. Manchester City tried to secure the services of Dzenan Pejcinovic, would have liked to lure the striker to the island and, according to information from kicker, would have been prepared to dig deep into their pockets for the 19-year-old. The figure is around five million pounds, just under six million euros.

A lot of money for a footballer who has only played five Bundesliga games for VfL Wolfsburg. Wolfsburg, in turn, has also been trying hard to sign Pejcinovic in recent weeks. And with success: the U-19 national player has extended his contract, originally valid until 2027, apparently for another two years. But he probably won’t stay.

First of all, however, everyone involved is happy about the agreement reached. “Dzenan has developed very well since his arrival in Wolfsburg,” says VfL sports director Sebastian Schindzielorz. “It’s not for nothing that Dzenan has aroused the interest of top international clubs, so we are all the more pleased that we will now continue to travel the path together in the long term. We are convinced that Dzenan is far from the end of his development.” Pejcinovic scored a total of 31 goals in 21 competitive matches for Wolfsburg’s U19s and an impressive 38 goals in 38 U19 international matches last season.

Loan deal for urgently needed match practice

The long-term future of Pejcinovic, who came from FC Augsburg in 2022 for 1.25 million euros, lies in Wolfsburg, but the attacker is likely to move soon anyway. According to information from kicker, a loan is planned for the coming season to give the teenager, who is currently still suffering from the effects of a metatarsal fracture, the much-needed match practice. From now on, Pejcinovic, who was born in 2005, is no longer allowed to play in the U19s, and VfL does not have a U23 team.
