“Thank you very much, it was a pleasure, thanks to those who follow me, even from home, and ‘merci beaucoup’ to those who are here. In recent years I have learned that dreaming is the most important thing.” These are the first words of an emotional Jasmine Paolini after her victory in the semi-final at Roland Garros. “It was a difficult match, at 17 she plays very well and is so complete – said the Tuscan of her rival Andreeva -. A month ago she beat me, today I wanted to do better and it worked. However, at the beginning I was nervous, then ball after ball I relaxed and now I’m really happy to have won.” The 28-year-old Tuscan – who thanks to this result will rise to n.7 in the WTA ranking – is the fifth Italian to reach the final in a slam tournament after Francesca Schiavone, Sara Errani, Flavia Pennetta and Roberta Vinci.
