Romelu Lukaku’s Future: Speculation Mounts as Clubs Vie for His Signature

Romelu Lukaku will be hoping to bounce back against France next Monday after a disappointing European Championship so far. In the meantime, speculation over his club future is rife.

Officially, Lukaku still belongs to Chelsea. The Blues forked out big money to bring the striker back to London in the summer of 2021. But for a variety of reasons, his second spell at Stamford Bridge was disappointing. After barely a year, he was re-rented to Inter.

After failing to reach an agreement to extend his stay in Milan last summer, Lukaku once again had to look elsewhere for a solution. And it was in Serie A that he found it. This time, he was loaned to AS Roma. The striker had a more than decent season there and was often a starter.

Looking for a new club

A longer stay in the capital, however, seems out of the question. The club having definitely missed out on its ticket to the Champions League, the financial means are too limited for a permanent transfer. In principle, the striker will therefore return to Chelsea, but it is no longer a secret that the club wants to get rid of him permanently.

To do this, the Blues would aim for 38 million pounds sterling, or 45 million euros. The question is which team is ready to invest such a sum for his arrival. In any case, there is no shortage of interest. His former coach Antonio Conte, for example, would like to bring him to SSC Napoli.

Lukaku open to move

This week, we learned that AC Milan, who are looking for a successor to Olivier Giroud, are also interested. And according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Lukaku himself is also open to the move. Given his past at Internazionale, however, it would be a rather surprising move. But the forward seems open to a move to the San Siro, so we’ll have to wait and see if the Rossoneri make a move. Furthermore, the outlet claims that the asking price has now dropped to around €30 million.
