RTVE Corporation to Broadcast Next Paralympic Games in Paris: An Agreement Reached with Enjoy

The interim president of the RTVE Corporation, Concepción Cascajosa, announced this Thursday that the public television entity will broadcast the next Paralympic Games in Paris, which will be held from August 28 to September 8, after an agreement “closed very, very recently” with the holder of the audiovisual rights. In his periodic appearance to answer questions before the Joint Commission (Congress-Senate) of Parliamentary Control of the RTVE Corporation and its Companies, Cascajosa thanked the director of the Sports area, Rosana Romero, “for her involvement in this work, which has also allowed a very important saving” with respect to the initial demand. “I want to highlight the importance of Paralympic sport,” said Cascajosa, announcing that RTVE will also offer “very, very special programming dedicated to Paralympic sport and the work and contribution of people with disabilities to Spanish society during those days.” “. Cascajosa has also praised the holder of the audiovisual rights, the company Enjoy, “for its collaboration, commitment to Paralympic sport and its commitment to public radio and television.” Precisely this Monday, the Spanish Committee of Representatives of People with Disabilities (CERMI) demanded that the RTVE Corporation “close now” the acquisition of the broadcasting rights for these Paralympic Games to broadcast them “with the greatest coverage and thus reach the Spanish public in the widest extent.” From August 28 to September 8, RTVE will accompany Spanish athletes with broadcasts of those disciplines in which they will participate, such as athletics, swimming, wheelchair basketball, table tennis, cycling, canoeing, boccia, taekwondo, triathlon, and those in which more athletes are classified. Until the beginning of July, the quotas in wheelchair tennis, judo and weightlifting remain to be filled. Teledeporte, every afternoon with a studio open until approximately 11:00 p.m., will offer the most notable events, with interviews with the protagonists carried out by two teams of special envoys, as well as a summary program of the best events that happened during the day. It will be presented by Frank Robert, assisted by collaborators from the Spanish Paralympic Committee (CPE). In the team of narrators, who will begin their broadcasts first thing in the morning, will be Julia Luna, Amat Carceller, Mario Ojuel, Javier López, Eva Aguilera, Lourdes García Campos, Ramón Carreras and Arseni Pérez, among many others. More than 120 Spanish athletes will form a delegation eager to surpass the harvest of 36 medals achieved in the Tokyo edition, at a rate of nine golds, 15 silvers and 12 bronzes (spread over seven sports: athletics, cycling, judo, swimming, tennis table, triathlon and shooting). In total, Spain has participated in 13 JJ.PP. summer and has achieved 651 medals. Marta Arce, a judoka who will participate in her fifth JJ.PP., and Álvaro Varela, a table tennis player who will do so for the seventh time, will be the flag bearers of Spain to parade at the head of the delegation along the Champs Elysées; From there they will enter the Plaza de la Concorde, which will serve as the Olympic stadium. Furthermore, Cascajosa has taken stock of his work at the head of the Corporation since his arrival in office at the end of March and has stated that there is “a before and after” of the Supreme Court ruling that reaffirms executive powers, which has allowed to develop “actions and strategies”, such as the last Board of Directors, where a change in the organizational chart was approved. “This time has helped me understand the Corporation better. I have tried to work on conveying trust, tranquility and working to maintain the reputation of RTVE, above all by giving autonomy and trust to RTVE professionals, one of our great assets,” he concluded. .
