Russian diver Nikita Fedotov recovering after high diving accident in Polignano a Mare

POLIGNANO A MARE – The Russian diver is fine after a small accident yesterday afternoon due to an uncertain entry into the water after a dive from 27 meters. The athlete, Nikita Fedotov, is participating in the Red Bull cliff diving world, the international high diving competition underway in Polignano a Mare, in the Bari area. According to what has emerged so far, after the dive the 29-year-old entered the sea incorrectly: the impact with the water caused him to lose consciousness.
Rescued, the diver was taken to the hospital in Monopoli for checks and was released yesterday evening. The 29-year-old is fine and, as a precaution, has decided not to compete today.

“I feel good. Of course,” says Fedotov, “it’s always hard and I feel sore. It will take a few days but I’ll be back in shape soon.” After the jump, the 29-year-old allegedly entered the sea incorrectly: the impact with the water caused him to lose consciousness. “It’s a new dive and it’s the most difficult dive in the world,” explains the 29-year-old. “It was only the second competition I’ve done it in, so it’s still a challenge to do it.” The athlete was rescued and taken to hospital where he was discharged yesterday evening. “There are many more competitions to come,” concludes Fedotov, “and I’m aiming high.”
