Zacharie Risacher, another French player number one in the NBA draft.
French basketball is in fusion. One year after Victor Wembanyama, the first Frenchman in history drafted number one in the NBA2024 strikes a double blow with two French players in the first two places: Alexandre Sarr, second, who joins the Washington Wizards and number one Zaccharie Risacher, les Hawks d’Atlanta.
Zacharie Risacher number one in the 2024 NBA draft
As the first choice in the 2024 NBA draft, the 19-year-old winger arrives with great fanfare in North American basketball with a status to defend and a substantial contract worth $57.2 million (€53.5 million) over 4 years, including 25.8 million (€24.1 million) guaranteed over the first two seasons. For his first year, the Frenchman will pocket $12.6 million (€11.8 million), more than any European star.

A first season at $12.6 million with the Atlanta Hawks
This amount is explained by the increase in the salary cap in the NBA, set at $141 million for next season. Risacher thus benefits from a contract 45% higher than that of the first choice in the NFL draft, the basketball equivalent of American football. Previously, according to BasketEurope, the son of former French international Stéphane Risacher was around 90,000 euros per year with JL Bourg in Betclic Elite.
Behind Risacher, his compatriot Alex Sarr, selected second by the Washington Wizards, will receive 51.2 million over 4 years.
