In the 68th minute of the Scotland-Hungary match, counting for the 3rd day of Group A at Euro 2024, the 29-year-old striker suffered a significant shock from a free kick with Scottish goalkeeper Angus Gunn. The Scots and Hungarians immediately made gestures to the medical staff, who intervened. Upon his exit, the player received applause from the audience at the Stuttgart Arena, under the distraught gaze of the other players.
On the ground, some of them were also emotionally affected. Captain of Hungary, which finally won (1-0) and finished 3rd in group A, Dominik Szoboszlai had tears in his eyes when he took his place.
