Scrum half Rory Kockott does not extend his contract at Stade Français

At 38, Rory Kockott (11 caps with the French XV) may have just played the last season of his career. The scrum half did not choose to extend with Stade Français for an additional season. It was as a World Cup joker that Kockott joined the Parisian club in the summer of 2023. This season, the former Castres player played 19 matches, including 12 as a starter.

A career ending full of twists and turns

“First as a reinforcement then as an executive, you were able to impose yourself in this locker room through your work and your strong values, but also on the field through your unique personality: thank you Rory Kockott” published on X the Stade Français. A message to which the person concerned responded with a sober “Thank you”.

Before joining the Pink Soldiers last summer, Rory Kockott decided to embark on a coaching career with Castres Olympique. But he quickly let himself be tempted by the call of the field, playing four matches with the CO last season to make up for some injured players.

Last Saturday, the scrum-half even started with Stade Français in the Top 14 semi-finals against Union Bordeaux-Bègles (20-22). One last appearance before, perhaps, a new challenge with the ball in his hands.
