Season starts with GAK against Salzburg

The next season of the Austrian Bundesliga will open with runner-up Red Bull Salzburg playing against newly promoted GAK in Graz. The season kicks off on Friday, August 2nd, at 8:30 p.m. Sturm Graz will begin defending its title on Sunday (August 4th) against SK Rapid. This was revealed in the schedule for the 2024/25 regular season presented on Friday.

In the first round, Altach will host WSG Tirol on Saturday and Hartberg will host LASK, while the Carinthian derby between WAC and Austria Klagenfurt will take place in Wolfsberg. On Sunday, in addition to the big match in Hütteldorf, Blau-Weiß Linz and Austria Wien will also face off.

Two highlights for Sturm in October

For champions Sturm, two highlights with home advantage are scheduled for October. On October 5th/6th, the defending champions will host former serial champions Salzburg in a big match, and on October 19th/20th, a Graz championship derby will take place again after more than 17 years.

The games will be played in the autumn until December 8th, and the Bundesliga will start in the spring on February 7th. The regular season will end on March 15th/16th, and the championship and qualification groups will begin on the weekend of March 28th to 30th. The championship will end on May 23rd/24th, and the European Cup play-offs will follow.
