Saturday, June 29, 2024

Sebastian Ofner has to wait for his first title on the ATP Tour. The 28-year-old Styrian had to admit defeat to the number four seeded Chilean Alejandro Tabilo in the final of the ATP 250 grass tournament in Mallorca with 3:6, 4:6 after 74 minutes.

Ofner can console himself with a check for 82,715 euros gross and 165 points for the ATP ranking. With these, he returns to the top 50 of the ranking.

Ofner is also travelling to Wimbledon with a lot of confidence. Austria’s number one will face Australian Aleksandar Vukic in the first round on Monday.

At the award ceremony, Ofner thanked the Austrian organizer Edwin Weindorfer: “It’s a great event. I felt very comfortable here.”

Tournament director Toni Nadal, Rafael’s uncle, congratulates Ofner in German: “You have had a great tournament and I hope that you can have a great tournament in Wimbledon next week.”
