It was difficult to hear each other on Saturday under the Matéo-Petit sports hall in Arcachon. The Arcachon Martial Arts club organized the second edition of the Arcachon city judo tournament for mixed junior-chick teams. Between 130 and 140 children fought in total this weekend. And inevitably, when we encourage, it makes noise…

Several clubs had brought teams: Limoges, Villenave-d’Ornon, Saint-Médard-en-Jalles, La Teste-de-Buch, Le Porge, and of course Arcachon.

“Arena atmosphere”

“We have more children than last year, it’s a great dynamic,” explained Thomas Cressend, the president of the Arcachon club. We had this project in mind for a long time and we love this formula. So we are happy to perpetuate it. Judo is an individual sport, obviously, but a team tournament allows everyone to participate, to encourage, to support friends in defeat as in victory. We wanted this arena atmosphere, where people laugh, where people shout! Everyone is together. And it’s beautiful, isn’t it? ” Yes. In any case, everyone looked very happy on Saturday.

Especially since the club welcomed distinguished guests for this very special weekend. Some members of the club have connections with the PSG judo section. This is why three champions honored the Matéo-Petit sports hall with their presence. Margaux Pinot, just crowned with her title of world champion in the under 70 kilo category, was there. As are two other members of PSG, also members of the French team: Faïza Mokdar (less than 57 kilos) and Alpha Oumar Djalo (less than 81 kilos). They also ran a course open to adults on Sundays.

“The champions travel and it’s great to offer that to the children. There was a gap between the competitions and the Olympic Games. It’s a great moment to end the season, even if the club’s real celebration takes place on June 21 at Vol. »
