Seko Fofana Uncertain About Future with Al-Nassr: A Return to Europe Possible

Ivory Coast international Seko Fofana is not sure he will play next season with Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia.

Currently on vacation in Paris, Seko Fofana shared his feelings after a first season in the Arabian Peninsula.
“It was a great experience for me, because I arrived in a championship where there was a lot of recruitment of players, coaches and staff. It is a country that does everything possible to attract players. I am very satisfied, I managed to adapt and for me it is a pride to be there”he said by videoconference in a program on the
NCI.

Last summer, the former captain of RC Lens accepted the Al-Nassr challenge which had succeeded in attracting Cristiano Ronaldo the previous winter, and where he would be joined a month later by the Senegalese Sadio Mané. But his stay turned out to be rather brief. Because after 19 appearances for just over 760 minutes of playing time (2 goals, 1 assist), the person concerned joined Al-Ettifaq in the form of a loan after the CAN, when he had difficulty from the country. Among the Rouge et Vert, the Éléphants midfielder (22 caps, 7 goals) rather enjoyed it, obtaining more playing time (more than 1000 minutes in 14 matches) and being more decisive (2 goals, 2 assists).

There are discussions

Enough to stay in the Gulf? Not so sure, according to the main person concerned. “Everything is possible. It’s true that I didn’t imagine myself in Saudi Arabia, but here I am. There are discussions with my agent, my family, and clubs. But for the moment I’m on vacation and I’m enjoying it because the season has been long”he confided, clearly leaving doubt.

Recently, a renewal of its lease in Al-Ettifaq was mentioned, but since then, discussions seem to have stalled. In all likelihood, a return to Europe cannot be ruled out.
